Canadian Coast Guard — Engineering Officer & Project Manager
Spent approximately 15 years with the Canadian Coast Guard in shipboard engineering and project roles. Responsibilities included engine-room operations, vessel refits, technical specifications, predictive and planned maintenance, evaluation of monitoring and control technologies, marine incident investigation, training, budgeting and resource planning.
International Telecom Group — Engineering Superintendent
Provided technical and operational expertise for a fleet involved in cable and ROV operations, including vessel conversions, engineering management, equipment design and fabrication, maintenance and repair, mobilizations and demobilizations, quality-management systems and project delivery.

About Paul
Paul is a graduate of the Canadian Coast Guard College's Marine Engineering Program and holds a First-Class Marine Engineering Certificate. His career began with the Canadian Coast Guard, where he gained extensive operational experience as a ship's engineering officer before moving into project management, fleet maintenance and technical-development roles.
Throughout his career, Paul has worked at the intersection of marine operations, engineering and technology. His experience includes vessel maintenance and refit, reliability and condition monitoring, maintenance-management systems, engineering management, vessel mobilizations and conversions, systems integration, technical specifications, estimating and project management.
Paul has played a significant role in the development and commercialization of advanced marine power and propulsion technologies. His work included initiatives associated with the world's first hybrid tug as well as other advanced power-generation and propulsion systems. He has subsequently provided consulting services to government and commercial clients in Canada and internationally on alternative propulsion, power systems and related infrastructure.
His experience also extends into corporate development and business leadership. As Vice President of Corporate Development with Aspin Kemp & Associates, Paul managed business-development and engineering resources, developed business strategies, pursued growth opportunities, negotiated contracts and continued to provide marine engineering and systems-integration expertise. He later established Breakwater Group, where his work has included systems integration, advanced power generation, alternative energy, technology development, market research and executive advisory services.
Paul has also been active within Canada's marine and energy communities. He is a past Chair of the Maritimes Energy Association and the Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy (FORCE), and has been a frequent industry speaker and guest lecturer at colleges and universities in Canada and internationally.
