Angela Franklin leads the corporate and operational functions that support Helm's marine advisory, engineering and project delivery activities. She manages contract administration, specialist coordination, financial oversight and the business systems required to support Helm's multidisciplinary project teams.

With more than 25 years of experience in business operations, finance and organizational management, Angela brings the structure behind Helm's technical delivery—coordinating people, contracts, resources and financial requirements so project teams can remain focused on client and technical objectives. Her background includes operations and finance for marine engineering consulting businesses as well as senior operational and financial roles in other sectors.

Leads Helm's corporate and operational functions, including contract administration, specialist and resource coordination, financial oversight and controls, proposal and submission management, corporate administration and the systems and processes supporting multidisciplinary marine assignments. Angela works across Helm's leadership and specialist teams to coordinate the contractual, financial and administrative requirements associated with client assignments and company operations.

Marine Engineering Consulting — Operations & Finance

Since 2009, Angela has provided operational and financial management support to marine engineering consulting businesses. Her responsibilities have included contract execution, financial controls, records management, coordination of external resources and administrative requirements, and support for technical reports, plans and business activities.

Canadian Institute of Marine Engineering — National Administration

Provides national administrative leadership to the Canadian Institute of Marine Engineering, supporting its national governance, financial administration, membership, branches, programs and industry activities across Canada. This role provides ongoing engagement with marine professionals, organizations and industry stakeholders from across Canada's marine sector.

Business Operations & Financial Leadership

Angela's broader career includes senior operational and financial roles and extensive work with small and medium-sized businesses. As CFO/COO of OptiMYz Inc. and Soar Media Inc., she was brought into the organizations to establish a more sustainable business foundation and address challenges spanning finance, sales, production and circulation. Her earlier experience also includes business analysis, entrepreneurship, financial management and the development of operational systems and processes. At Minacs Worldwide, she implemented cross-functional processes that reduced facility expenses by 15%, led a facility expansion from approximately 20,000 to 59,000 square feet and developed disaster and business recovery plans.

Angela has more than 25 years of experience in business operations, financial management, administration and organizational development. Her career has crossed finance, operations, business development, organizational systems and strategic planning, providing a broad understanding of the structures required to support effective organizations and complex projects.

Since 2009, Angela has managed operations and finance for marine engineering consulting businesses. At Helm, she leads the corporate and operational framework supporting the company's marine advisory, engineering and project delivery activities. Her responsibilities include contract administration, specialist and resource coordination, financial oversight and controls, proposal and submission management, corporate administration and the operational requirements associated with delivering multidisciplinary assignments.

A significant part of Angela's role is bringing together the different elements required for Helm's project teams to function effectively. She works across principals, technical specialists and external resources to coordinate people, contracts, information and financial requirements while maintaining the business systems supporting project delivery.

Angela's broader career includes senior financial and operational leadership, entrepreneurship, business analysis and organizational development. She has worked extensively with small and medium-sized businesses facing financial and operational challenges, helping organizations establish stronger financial controls, business processes and sustainable operating structures. Her experience also includes assessing early-stage businesses and investment opportunities through the First Angel Network.

Angela is a Certified Professional Bookkeeper and brings additional experience in governance, financial oversight and organizational strategy through board and industry leadership roles. She also serves as National Administrator of the Canadian Institute of Marine Engineering, providing national-level administrative support to an organization representing marine professionals across Canada.
